Causes of injuries to Spanish runners

More than 60% of Spanish runners have been injured this year while running. A significant percentage of these injuries derive from bad habits that are often accompanied by the practice of this sport.

As is normal in sports, muscle injuries are common among runners. Other common running ailments are severe headaches, bone fractures, sprains, dislocations, dizziness or palpitations.

Many of these injuries or ailments are caused by bad running habits. The vast majority of people who go running do not follow a training plan guided by a professional, they do it on their own. There is also a significant percentage that does not warm up before starting the race or stretch after, which are fundamental actions to prevent muscle injuries. Finally, there are very few runners who have passed an effort test before starting to train, this being a fundamental step, since running consists of subjecting your body to an effort to which it is not accustomed, so you have to know if you are prepared for it and thus avoid scares.

Another fundamental point is to pay attention to the body. When there is a problem, the body sends out signals in the form of punctures or pain. It is important to know when to stop, as this overexertion can lead to a major illness or injury.

When starting a training routine, pay special attention to rest time, sleep time and diet. Sleeping 8 hours a day, not having accumulated fatigue from our training and a balanced diet, focused on our goal, are of great help when it comes to running.
